Description

The WTF Octave Fuzz is my tribute to one of the absolute coolest fuzz pedals ever made—the Foxx Tone Machine. I’ve made no secret about the fact that the Foxx Tone Machine is one of my absolute favorite fuzz pedal circuits. It’s the fuzz that got me into building pedals. It sounds super-gnarly on both guitar and bass. And it’s versatile enough to let you either take the lead, or sit back and fall into the mix. It also sounds really sick going into a wah pedal to boot. All of this is the reason that this is probably the fuzz pedal that I’ve built the absolute most of.

This special edition of the WTF Octave Fuzz features a one-of-a-kind, completely hand-crafted brass faceplate. No lie—I’ve lost blood bringing this faceplate into existence (don’t worry, the version that actually got blood on it was discarded). It was put together using one of my trusty WTFoxx PCBs available in the store using premium parts, so you know you’re getting a good quality build.

This is a high gain, silicon transistor fuzz that brings back tones from the early 1970’s. With its four transistors and two pairs of matched Germanium clipping diodes, the WTF is like the ManBearPig of fuzz pedals—its tonal quality lies somewhere in between a BMP, a Tonebender with an additional gain stage, and a Super-Fuzz. It is Mudhoney in a box.

Touch it. It’s sick.

Warranty

Each Carcharias Effects pedal is hand-made by one person in his home workshop who loves making music, and making things that make music. Every purchase you make enables me to continue making more pedals, so your support is very much appreciated. That said, I take responsibility for the build quality of every pedal I make comes, and offer a 24-month warranty on each one, not covering normal wear-and-tear or abuse.

All the PCBs that I sell on this site were designed personally by me, but the fabrication is outsourced to third-party PCB fabrication services. Once they are designed, I order them in relatively small batches. I personally test every batch that I receive; however, as I am a strong believer in minimizing waste, there are cases in which I may sell perfectly functioning PCBs that might have some design flaw. I take responsibility for these design flaws (if any) and will specify their fixes or workarounds in the product's specific build document.

If you should encounter any issues with your product, please feel free to reach out to me via the contact form on this website. As I am based in Israel, I understand the inconvenience added by international shipping, and so I will be happy to assist in troubleshooting with you any problems before resorting to international shipping in case a repair needs to be made.
