Description
The Boss BD-2 Blues Driver is one of those classic pedals that any player should take the time to get to know. It is an excellent example of a great-sounding pedal that is highly responsive to your playing dynamics, as well as the volume knob on you guitar. That being said, many players acknowledge that the Blues Driver works best at lower gains, and some even find its lack of bass and harshness of trebles disturbing. Seeking to improve the performance of the Blues Driver, I took to the annals of the internet to find out the right combination of tweaks that would turn this Blues Driver into an amazing pedal at any setting. The result is this totally unique, tastefully modded version of the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, customized to my style of playing, significantly less harsh, and unbelievably more versatile all around.
These mods were documented by a user named KurtLives91 on the Ultimate Guitar forum, and integrated by myself. Here is the rundown of what went into modding this classic pedal:
- Better Gain Control – More useful gain control with less harshness/fizziness at the top of its range.
- HiFi Mod – Input and Output buffers are upgraded with premium components for a much cleaner response when the pedal is both on and off.
- More Bass – modified component values to provide slightly more bass frequency response.
- Fat Switch – adds or cuts some of the lower frequency content depending on your taste.
- Customized Tone Control – to highlight the better bass response and de-harshifying of the treble.
Check out the demo to hear this pedal side-by-side with the unmodded version! The demo is interactive, so you can hear the sound of the “before” (stock pedal) panned hard left, and the “after” (modded pedal) panned hard right. If you want to isolate each audio track so you can hear the before and after separately, you can do this easily by listening to one headphone at a time (if you’re listening on headphones). Or you can simply use your PC’s audio settings to mute the left and right channels interchangeably if you’re listening on a desktop setup.

Warranty
Each Carcharias Effects pedal is hand-made by one person in his home workshop who loves making music, and making things that make music. Every purchase you make enables me to continue making more pedals, so your support is very much appreciated. That said, I take responsibility for the build quality of every pedal I make comes, and offer a 24-month warranty on each one, not covering normal wear-and-tear or abuse.
All the PCBs that I sell on this site were designed personally by me, but the fabrication is outsourced to third-party PCB fabrication services. Once they are designed, I order them in relatively small batches. I personally test every batch that I receive; however, as I am a strong believer in minimizing waste, there are cases in which I may sell perfectly functioning PCBs that might have some design flaw. I take responsibility for these design flaws (if any) and will specify their fixes or workarounds in the product's specific build document.
If you should encounter any issues with your product, please feel free to reach out to me via the contact form on this website. As I am based in Israel, I understand the inconvenience added by international shipping, and so I will be happy to assist in troubleshooting with you any problems before resorting to international shipping in case a repair needs to be made.
